Anybody watch "Apocalypse Man" on the History Channel?
Gah, what rubbish. Let me count the ways:
- His first two bits of advice are "get to a major population center" and "find the hospital."
- He engages in some outrageously risky behavior when it comes to getting from point A to point B. Using a pry bar as a grappling hook and then swinging wildly from the rope. Free climbing building walls to make entry. At one point, he's in a bathroom with a window. Instead of walking around the toilet, he makes a huge leap over it. Standard Bear Grylls b.s. - makes for good TV but very foolish in the real world.
- He states that climbing down the cables of an elevator shaft is safer than leaving through the entrance you came in.
- He uses his shoulder to break down a door, while holding a prybar in one hand.
I'll say there are a few useful tidbits in the show; he showcases the battery + steel wool trick for starting a fire, and he suggests you not eat food out of bent, bulging, or rusted cans, but other than that the show was just a big, steaming pile of fail.
